How to Take
Your Measurements
Getting your measurements right makes all the difference — especially for made-to-order and bespoke pieces. Here's a simple guide to measuring yourself accurately at home.
Dresses
Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.
Waist
Find your natural waist — the narrowest part of your torso, usually about an inch above your belly button.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, usually 7–9" below your natural waist.
Length
From the top of your shoulder down to where you'd like the hem to fall.
Tops
Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.
Waist
Your natural waist — the narrowest part of your torso.
Shoulder Width
From the edge of one shoulder to the other, measured straight across the back.
Length
From the top of your shoulder straight down to where you'd like the hem to sit.
Jackets
Bust / Chest
Around the fullest part of your chest. Consider whether you'll be layering underneath when you measure.
Shoulder Width
From the edge of one shoulder to the other, across the back.
Sleeve Length
From the top of your shoulder down to your wrist, with your arm slightly bent.
Length
From the top of your shoulder to where you'd like the jacket hem to land.
Note: If you're planning to wear this jacket over a chunky knit or blazer, take your measurements while wearing that layer.
Pants
Waist
Measure where you prefer your pants to sit — natural waist, mid-rise, or low-rise.
Hips
Around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Inseam
From your crotch seam straight down to your ankle bone. Easiest to measure on a pair of pants that already fit you well.
Outseam
From your natural waist down to your ankle bone along the outer leg.
Jumpsuits
Bust
Around the fullest part of your chest.
Waist
Your natural waist, or wherever the waistband will sit.
Hips
Around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Torso Length
From your shoulder, over your bust, down through your crotch. This ensures the body length works for your frame.
Inseam
From your crotch seam down to your ankle (or preferred hem length).
Shoulder Width
Across the back, from shoulder edge to shoulder edge.
Tip: Torso length is the trickiest measurement for jumpsuits. If you're between sizes, size up — we can always adjust from there.
Skirts
Waist
Measure where you prefer the skirt to sit — natural waist, hip, or low-rise.
Hips
Around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Length
From your waistband down to where you'd like the hem — mini, midi, maxi, or anywhere between.
A Few More Things
- Always measure in inches unless otherwise specified — our patterns are drafted in inches.
- Measure yourself once, then measure again to double-check. Small errors add up.
- Don't pull the tape tight — it should sit snugly with just a little give.
- For bespoke pieces, we'll walk you through everything together — no guesswork needed.
